The restored wall along the road improves the view of the Palace.

This retaining wall prevents the rear yard of the Palace from falling on to the street which leads to the piazza. Like the Palace, it had fallen into disrepair, but is structurally repaired and now looks beautiful to match the newly restored Palace.
